You guys are aware that these guys translated the game before and are hard at work on an official English dub, right?

I was aware, yeah. I’d love to be able to throw money at an official translated version, though, even if it’s exactly the same as buying the dlsite version and applying Darkside’s patch to it. Just off the top of my head, Gundemonium, Suguri, Bunny Must Die and the third eXceed game are all doujin games that were officially localized despite having previously-released translation patches (Jade Penetrate’s fan translation was admittedly really bad) – so I don’t think that’s any sort of objection here.

Also, I thought the RKS dub project was purely a fan thing? Actually, I thought that had fallen by the wayside; it’d be sweet if they actually did manage to finish it, though.

That’d be my voice you’re hearing in the announcement clip. Both the English localization and the English dub are our handiwork, created with the approval of [erka:es]. If Nyu Media is willing, the Darkside Translations crew would love to work with them to create official English releases of Rosenkreuzstilette and Freudenstachel. They only have to ask and we’d be happy to oblige.

Hi TDOMMX!

Admittedly, I haven’t spent a lot of time with the localized version of RKS, but I was impressed with what I did see & would be happy to discuss.

Please drop me a line at seonk@nyu-media.com & let’s chat 🙂

Cheers!

It might well happen this year. TDOMMX is working on a release with another publisher. Best to ask him / them for details.

Yep. Barring any last-minute snags, we should be on track for a Spring 2016 release for the original Rosenkreuzstilette on Playism and Steam, with Freudenstachel coming not too long afterwards. Seon and my crew were planning to collaborate on the English release, but neither of us knew at the time that the game had already been licensed by Playism. Seon hooked us up with the licensee, and the rest is history.

If you’d like to get a sneak peek at the official English version of the game, I’ve been maintaining a Developer’s Diary at Schwer and Schwer Alike (http://schwer-muta.blogspot.ca) for the past few months. The Dev Diary includes behind-the-scenes looks at our localization decisions; short peeks at the new features we’ve implemented; the English cover art (yes, WOMI made custom box art for our release!); “Did You Know”-style trivia about many (but not all) of the references in the game; comparisons between our fan translation and our revised English version; the list goes on. And I answer questions directly in the comments section if there’s anything specific you’re curious about. Be sure to drop by and have a look.
